Digital Fingerprinting

Digital Fingerprinting has become the standard method of applying for a Criminal Record Check. An imprint of your finger is taken, digitally scanned and then submitted to the RCMP for a Criminal Record Check. Digital Fingerprints have now been made a requirement for new employees at the Canadian Federal Government.

Here is an article describing how Digital Fingerprinting is becoming “The Gold Standard” in HR departments around North America.

Criminal Record Check

Criminal Record Checks are a way for employers, organizations or individuals to check the reliability and background of an individual you will be dealing with professionally or in business.

To conduct a Police Records Check, the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database, operated by the RCMP, is searched for relevant criminal record information and/or the existence of a CPIC record. The CPIC database is a compilation of police information and court decisions. Information collected in the CPIC database includes individuals who:

  • have a criminal record for any Criminal Code or other Federal Statute offence and/or
  • have been judged not criminally responsible for an offence because of mental disorder and/or
  • have federal and/or provincial charges pending and/or
  • are on probation or subject to a Prohibition Order.
